Stimulus Checks Could Arrive As Soon As This Weekend For Some People

WASHINGTON — Stimulus checks worth up to $1,400 per qualified person could begin hitting bank accounts just days after President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan into law.

People can expect to start seeing direct deposits hit their bank accounts as early as this weekend, said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

Psaki went on to say the checks coming out this weekend are part of the first wave and will continue to be distributed over the coming weeks.

As of Friday morning the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website — which is designed to give people an idea of what they will receive and when — had not been updated. However, a notice on the website says it will be updated soon.

Millions of Americans have already received money as part of the two prior rounds of stimulus packages. This latest round is expected to allow for even more people to receive a check. The latest bill expanded eligibility to dependents over the age of 16 and to caregivers of qualified individuals. The two previous rounds of checks were not available to parents with dependents over 16 or caregivers.

Couples whose joint income surpasses $150,000 would see diminished checks if they earned up to $160,000 combined. Anything over $160,000 combined would disqualify those couples from receiving a check.

Calculating Your Third Stimulus Check Amount

Under the American Rescue Plan, every eligible person will receive a $1,400 third stimulus check “base amount.” For married couples that file a joint tax return, the base amount is $2,800. Then, for each dependent in your family, an additional $1,400 will be tacked on.

But not all people will receive the full amount. As with the first two stimulus payments, third-round stimulus checks will be reduced potentially to zero for people reporting an adjusted gross income above a certain amount on their latest tax return. If you filed your most recent tax return as a single filer, your third stimulus check will be phased-out if your AGI is $75,000 or more. That threshold jumps to $112,500 for head-of-household filers, and to $150,000 for married couples filing a joint return. Third-round stimulus checks will be completely phased out for single filers with an AGI above $80,000, head-of-household filers with an AGI over $120,000, and joint filers with an AGI exceeding $160,000.

The First Stimulus Payments Have Started To Arrive

The IRS announced via Twitter on Saturday, April 11 that the first Economic Impact Payments had been deposited into recipients’ bank accounts.

The House Ways and Means Committee estimates that the IRS will make about 60 million direct deposit payments in mid-April. This group will primarily include households whose direct deposit information is already on file with the IRS from their 2018 or 2019 tax return.

Next, the IRS will make a second round of April payments to Social Security beneficiaries who don’t file tax return and receive their payments by direct deposit. It isn’t clear which wave will include Americans who haven’t filed or haven’t given the IRS their direct deposit information previously, although the IRS has outlined steps to allow people in these groups to get their payments direct deposited.

Finally, paper checks will begin to be sent in early May to taxpayers who didn’t get theirs through direct deposit, although this process is expected to take as long as 20 weeks, as the IRS has the capacity to issue about 5 million checks per week.

When Will You Get The Third Stimulus Check

Officials at the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service said Friday that processing of the new round of stimulus payments has already begun, with the aim of having the first payments start showing up in bank accounts this weekend.

The IRS said Friday that additional waves of payments will be sent in the coming weeks by direct deposit and through the mail as a check or debit card. The agency added that contacting the IRS or your financial institutions won’t get you your check any sooner.

A date has yet to be set for when those receiving Social Security and other federal beneficiaries will get their money. Though the IRS said those Americans will generally receive the third payment the same way as their regular benefits.

What To Do If You’re Missing Money From The First Two Stimulus Checks

Plus-up payments are going out weekly along with the third round of checks, but they may not be the only money you’re due. For money missing from the first two checks, you need to claim that on your 2020 taxes. We suggest making sure you know how to find out your adjusted gross income. You may be eligible to claim the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit for claiming missing money from the first two checks.

Also, last week, the IRS launched a new online for familes that don’t file taxes called the “Non-filer Sign-up Tool.” Its purpose is to help eligible families who don’t normally file a tax return enroll in the monthly child tax credit advance payment program, which is slated to begin July 15. However, the tool is also for those who did not file either a 2019 or 2020 tax return and did not use the previous nonfilers tool last year to register for stimulus payments.

In other words, individuals who experience homelessness or make little or no income can use this tool to enter their personal details for the IRS’ records so as to receive the $1,400 stimulus checks or claim the recovery rebate credit for any amount of the first two rounds of payments that might have been missed. Tax nonfilers may need to be proactive about claiming a new dependent, too.

How To Check The Status Of My Stimulus Payment

President Biden Signed The American Rescue Plan Into Law On Thursday, March 11th. Checks Could Start Being Sent This Coming Weekend. The First Group Of Checks Will Be Issued To Those That Have Their Bank Information Registered With The IRS.

How Will The Government Send You The Stimulus Check

The IRS will use the direct deposit information you provided from the taxes youve filed for 2019 or 2020.

You may be able to use the IRS Non-Filers tool to provide your information like the first round. But so far, the IRS has not announced whether that tool will be available if this stimulus bill is passed.

The tool was for eligible U.S. citizens or permanent residents who had gross income below $12,200 for 2019 and werent required to file a 2019 federal tax return.

If you have no direct deposit information on file or if the account provided is now closed, the IRS will mail you a check or pre-paid debit card instead.

If you received no payment and you think youre eligible or you got the wrong amount, youll be able to claim it on your 2021 tax return.

Stimulus Checks Could Arrive This Weekend: White House

Fourth of July gatherings & the earliest you could receive your third stimulus check

Just minutes after President Biden signed the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package into law on Thursday, the White House indicated that stimulus checks could reach Americans as soon as this weekend.

.: “People can expect to start seeing direct deposits hit their bank accounts as early as this weekend… and payments to eligible Americans will continue throughout the course of the next several weeks.”

    CSPAN

Since the Department of Treasury and the IRS are working hard to get relief payments out the door as fast as possible to the American people, people can expect to start seeing direct deposits hit their bank accounts as early as this weekend, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

This is, of course, just the first wave, Psaki continued, adding that payments to eligible Americans will continue throughout the course of the next several weeks.

Eligibility for the third stimulus checks will be based upon Americans most recent tax filings, whether from 2019 or 2020. A check for $1,400 will go to individuals making $75,000 or less, married couples making $150,000 or less and heads of households bringing home $112,500 or less. The amount will be reduced for individuals that made between $75,000 and $80,000, married couples that earned between $150,000 to $160,000 and heads of household that made between $112,500 and $120,000. Americans whose adjusted gross income surpasses those thresholds will not receive a check.

How Taxes Play A Role In Your Stimulus Payment Amount

Taxes were due May 17. So how will the IRS figure out how much it owes you? It will calculate your total based on the most recent tax filing it’s processed when tabulating the amount of your stimulus check.

If you know your tax return was already processed, the amount of your stimulus check will likely be based on your 2020 adjusted gross income, not on your 2019 AGI. That presents complications if the difference between the two years disqualifies you from getting a third stimulus check.

On the flip side, if the IRS uses your 2019 taxes and you’re owed more money based on your 2020 AGI and dependents, you could get a plus-up payment. If you got more than you’re owed, you’ll only need to return it to the IRS in some cases.

Biden Will Not Have Name On Stimulus Checks

Unlike former president Donald Trump, Joe Biden has opted not to have his name on the third round of $1,400 stimulus checks, which will help to speed up distribution. Trump faced harsh criticism for insisting that his name be on the previous checks, which led to a slow down in getting the checks out…

This Is INSANITY! Be Prepared For A Weekend Of Food Shortages, Gas Shortages, And Pilot Shortages

The number the IRS will look at is your adjusted gross income for 2020, which is your income without retirement contributions but before your standard or itemized deductions are taken out. You can find your adjusted gross income on line 11 of your Form 1040 of your 2020 tax return. If you haven’t yet filed your 2020 tax return, the IRS will use your AGI from your 2019 tax return.

Single people who make between $75,000 and $80,000 will have their checks reduced by 28% of the amount over $75,000, and married people who file joint returns and make between 150,000 and $160,000 will have their checks reduced by the same percentage of the amount over $150,000. Taxpayers who file as head of household and make between $112,500 and $120,000 will have their checks reduced by a similar percentage of the amount over $112,500. The $1,400 that parents receive for each dependent is subject to the same reduction.

This means that single people who earned $80,000 or more in 2020 don’t qualify at all for the third stimulus checkcompared with $87,000 for the second stimulus check. Couples who earned $160,000 or more won’t get a third stimulus check, down from $174,000 for the second stimulus check. And a family of four that earned $160,000 or more also won’t receive a third stimulus check.

Bidens $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan passed the Senate last Saturday and the House on Wednesday no Republican voted for the bill. The legislation offers a third round of direct payments to millions of Americans, payments to support families with children and an extension of unemployment assistance, which was set to expire this month, through at least September.

The direct payments $1,400 for adults earning less than $75,000 and couples less than $150,000, as well as $1,400 for dependents could amount to $5,600 for many families of four.

Some families who meet income requirements with two parents and two kids could see a payment for $5,600 in their bank account by Sunday.

The first to receive their economic impact payment will be people who have direct deposit information on file with the IRS, typically done when taxes are filed.
